Each spring, dozens of students, teachers and community members in Interior Alaska tap birch trees to collect the sweet sap, which can be boiled down to create birch syrup. OneTree Alaska has developed an integrative STEAM (STEM +Art) curriculum for Interior Alaska schools that promotes active learning through the process of tree tapping and sap processing.
